Comenzó la Gamescom oficialmente con el evento Opening Night Live, presentado por Geoff Keighley, que a priori prometía 38 juegos entre novedades, anuncios y actualizaciones de títulos ya disponibles. No todos fueron ganadores, por supuesto (no pusimos el embole que fue la presentación de World of Warcraft entre los destacados), pero el evento sumó varios enteros por la cantidad más que por la calidad.
